Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer embraces the upcoming Lunar New Year with the launch of two limited edition watches, honoring the Year of the Dragon in 2024. Marrying Chinese cultural elements with TAG Heuer’s rich racing heritage, these exclusive timepieces symbolize imperial strength and unity associated with the dragon in Chinese mythology.
Crafted in gold and steel, the watches pay homage to Chinese culture while mirroring the success embodied by the Chinese Dragon, aligning with TAG Heuer’s iconic Carrera legacy. The steel version features a sunray-brushed silver dial, while the gold variant boasts a sunray-brushed 18K 5N pink gold-plated dial. Both models showcase rhodium-plated and 18K 5N pink gold-plated indexes, enhanced by red lacquer detailing. Distinct red “azuré” subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock offer a striking contrast, echoing the emblematic reverse panda design.
At 6 o’clock, a central red lacquered hand highlights a calligraphic dragon character, symbolizing strength and prosperity in Chinese culture. The caseback features a printed Chinese Dragon figure wrapping around the sapphire glass, accompanied by special engravings denoting the watch’s exclusivity.
Powered by the Calibre Heuer 02 movement, known for precision and performance with an 80-hour power reserve, these watches are complemented by an alligator leather strap in an elegant shade of red, enhancing their sophisticated racing allure.
Pricing details reveal that the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph “The Year of the Dragon” Steel edition, limited to 300 examples, will be priced at 6,150 CHF or $6,811 USD. Meanwhile, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph “The Year of the Dragon” Gold edition, limited to just 50 examples, will cost 22,000 CHF or $24,366 USD.
Both watches come in a special red box adorned with the Chinese Dragon symbol and TAG Heuer’s gold logo. The release is scheduled for November 13, available through TAG Heuer boutiques, select online platforms, and exclusive retail partners.
