In a groundbreaking move towards fostering female talent in motorsport, Tommy Hilfiger has joined forces with F1 Academy, a pioneering single-seater racing championship dedicated to women drivers. Marking its debut season last year, the Academy aims to cultivate and showcase the skills of women in the high-speed world of racing.
The collaboration sees Tommy Hilfiger stepping up to sponsor Spanish race car driver Nerea Martí, who will take to the track in a specially branded race car from the iconic label, adorned in a bespoke racing suit. The striking duo made their first appearance during F1 Academy’s pre-season testing in Saudi Arabia, turning heads with their sleek design and undeniable presence.
Beyond Martí’s outfit and vehicle, Tommy Hilfiger extends its support by providing the F1 Academy staff with a distinct uniform, reflecting the brand’s signature style. Additionally, the designer takes the helm in crafting one of the fifteen liveries for the 2024 season, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication to the racing circuit.
This partnership underscores Tommy Hilfiger’s enduring commitment to the world of Formula 1, dating back to 1991 when the designer made his first foray into motorsport sponsorship with Team Lotus. Over the years, Hilfiger’s passion for racing has seen him backing iconic teams like Ferrari in 1998, a collaboration that spanned four successful years. Notably, in 2018, the brand aligned itself with racing royalty by appointing Lewis Hamilton as an ambassador, further cementing its status within the motorsport community.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the collaboration, Tommy Hilfiger emphasizes his lifelong dedication to motorsport and its continual evolution. “The world of racing is undergoing a thrilling transformation, and the F1 Academy stands at the forefront of this revolution,” says Hilfiger. “I am thrilled to collaborate with Managing Director Susie Wolff, the talented driver Nerea Martí, and the entire F1 Academy team as they shatter barriers in a traditionally male-dominated sport.”
With Tommy Hilfiger’s support, the F1 Academy paves the way for a more inclusive and diverse future in racing, where talent knows no gender boundaries.
