Seiko is pushing the boundaries of style and functionality with the latest additions to its Black Series watch collection—the SRPK43 Diver and the SSC923 Solar Chronograph. These newcomers build upon the success of last year’s Black Series release, which reimagined iconic timepieces such as the 1965 62MAS diver, the 6105-8000, and the Alpinist field watch.
Continuing the series’ sleek black aesthetic, both the SRPK43 King Turtle Diver and the Solar Chronograph feature a stainless steel case with a durable coating and a ceramic bezel. Priced at $725 USD for the diver and $700 USD for the Solar Chronograph, these timepieces offer a blend of style and substance.
The SRPK43 diver, measuring 45mm in diameter and 13.2mm in thickness, boasts a 22mm lug width and 45mm lug-to-lug dimension. In contrast, the Solar Chronograph is slightly more compact, with a 41.4mm diameter, a 13mm thickness, and a 21mm lug width.
Powering the King Turtle diver is the reliable Seiko 4R36 movement, providing a 41-hour power reserve. While this falls slightly short of the 6R35 movement’s reserve, the 4R36 comes with a more accessible price point. Key features include a uni-directional bezel, screw-down crown, screw-in caseback, and an impressive 200m water resistance, coupled with a practical day and date display.
The Solar Chronograph is powered for six months on a full charge and features a running-second display, date function, 24-hour subdial, and a 1/5-second chronograph with a 60-minute counter. With a water resistance of 100m, this chronograph is both stylish and versatile.
Noteworthy in these new releases is the departure from the textured dial seen in previous models, replaced by a sophisticated matte grey-black finish. Both the SRPK43 Diver and SSC923 Solar Chronograph are set to hit the market in February, available through Seiko’s official site and select retailers. Stay tuned for an opportunity to elevate your watch collection with these stylish and functional timepieces.
